As the song from Evita asks
"So what happens now?"
What does the future hold?
We don't know...
This is a journey and we don't know where this road will take us.
The destination is not important, it is how we get there...
We will have good days and bad days, but hopefully Eilidh will teach us about SMA and how to live with it.
We lost all hope when Eilidh was diagnosed but I felt strongly about putting my faith in mankind, in believing in people. And I was so right. We have been lifted high by those who have supported Eilidh's Whizzy Wheels - and there so very many of you, all around the globe... We are so very, very, very thankful and grateful... I think that, as a result, we have more to give others too: which is trully amazing to think about when I think how lost we felt just 6 months ago.
"So what happens now?"
What does the future hold?
We don't know...
Eilidh will get her Royal Mail Red Snappie in February thank to the amazing fund-raising which has been done over the last 9 weeks... and yes, there are more events still in the pipeline... Many people want to continue to fundraise for Eilidh because they know that this is a life long condition and that she will need ongoing support. Many of those wanting to fundraise know our family well and love us and want to help... Others may not know us quite as well...
Eilidh's condition will not progress but she is likely to get weaker, requiring more specialist items of equipment for everyday living, including bath seats, toileting aids and car seats.
Eilidh is also unable to use many standard play items such as swings and ride-on toys and will need specialist items to enable her to enjoy the experiences that able-bodied children take for granted and which are vital for her continuing development. Of course, as Eilidh grows, these items will be outgrown and will need to be replaced and further equipment needs will arise.
So...
fund raising will be ongoing... so we hope that you are along with us on this journey - wherever it may take us.
